Strategy series The Settlers is very know to players on the PC for more than 20 years, during which it was not pointed like Age of Empires, Civilization or Total War. Ubisoft as the owner of the licensee obviously bothered when the eighth part of the game was directed toward RPG genre. The game, which is now reviewing the first announced as The Settlers: Kingdoms of anterior and then it still was a strategic game with the addition of RPG part in which their heroes go on a mission. That was until this year, and then came the turning point – the game has become a new IP, and together with the name of The Settlers disappeared and classic gameplay of this series.
Champions of ANTERIOR gives you the opportunity to build your own kingdom and in it you gather resources to expand your boundaries. However, this part of the game is maximally simplified, even below the level of superficiality RTS game on mobile platforms. When building the kingdom, you literally have influence only when and where you are setting up a building. This type of FAQ by clicking the team and tactical RPG with a possibility of pausing the action. In short – something like Dragon Age or Pillars of Eternity. You control three heroes, each of which has several different capabilities, and link to building the kingdom is that these capabilities require specific resources. Your objective is to wrest the region from three tribes to get to the main villain. Each region is actually one mission at a closed map, and bad news is that there are more regions than types of missions and maps. The result is that tasks are very banal, in style – eliminate all enemies, restore works (while eliminating enemies that disturb you), protect the caravan (eliminating all the enemies who attack) and similar. Maps are unimaginative and small, and besides the fact that they repeat each other, it’s sad that on them enemies don’t even change their position, so by the third time that you play the same map, you’ll know where enemies will attack you.

All in all, there is no reason to Champions of anterior grow into a series, so the best is that you don’t give Ubisoft a reason for it. Especially considering hoisted price of 30 euros that game cannot be justified in its fifteen hours duration. Looking at fact that this product was promising nice things while he was still named the Settlers, it is unfortunate that the rejected what was so cool that we get in return what none of the fans did not ask.
